Motorola Edge 40 Neo. 2-3 months back only the Edge 40 was launched & now its younger brother is here. Nearly all the features that were in the Motorola Edge 40 5G are in the Neo but its price has gone down.
In fact, this is going to be closer to Rs 20K. Its price is going to be Rs 25K but the effective price is Rs 20K and think about it, this is one of the lightest phones & the looks are amazing. It has a curved display & OLED. There are many things to tell about it.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Box Contents
One good thing is that Motorola‘s packaging is slowly improving. Everything is improving slowly but they are doing it. For eg, the packaging is environmentally friendly with recyclable material.
All the brands are moving towards being environmentally friendly. Motorola is no different. the case isn’t on the phone this time. It’s a hard case, it’s a kind of bumper case.
It’s open from the sides but from the top & bottom. So it’s a very nice case, It’s a 68W charger & it’s a Type C charger.
So it’s a very nice 68W charger, USB Type C to Type C charging cable. So that is there. Documentation and no SIM card tool? That is interesting.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Design
It’s a color-matched case. It’s a vegan leather back. Look at this design, it’s very nice. And it has a curved display as I said. It’s beautiful & lightweight. Seriously, Motorola is doing very well in terms of looks. The feel of the vegan leather in the hand is amazing.
Even the metal camera module looks very nice. Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G comes in 3 colors. There’s a black color which is PMMA finish and the other 2 are vegan leather and the other one is a kind of mint color. So that’s also kind of greenish. But this one stands out for me and this is a climate-friendly case. The normal TPU case turns yellow after a few days.
This is not going to be that. So it’s a very nice case and the bulk doesn’t increase at all. When you hold it in your hand, it doesn’t feel bulky. It has energy glass protection.
If I talk about the weight, it has a 5000mAh battery. But still, it feels so light. According to me, it should be 175g. Let’s see. Despite having a 5000mAh battery, it’s 172.3g. That’s very light. When you hold it in your hand or pocket, it’s a pocket-friendly phone.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Ports & Buttons
If I talk about the Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G ports & buttons, there’s a speaker grill, microphone, USB Type C, a SIM card tray & nothing on the left side. There’s a microphone on the top & Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers. There are stereo speakers too. There’s a volume rocker on the top right & power on-off button. It doesn’t have a sim tool, but it has a dual nano sim card slot.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Display
There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor as it’s not side-mounted. It’s a P-OLED display. It’s a 6.55” curved P-OLED display. It has a 144Hz fast refresh rate & a peak brightness of 1300 nits and 144Hz feels extremely smooth. It also supports HDR10+. If I compare it with the Edge 40, the display is the same.
The only difference is that it had a metal frame & you could see the antenna lines. But still, it’s a chamfered Edge so it gives a premium look and when you feel the swipes & touches while using it, you come to know that it’s buttery smooth due to the 144Hz fast refresh rate and you get a clean Android experience.
It’s very nice & very optimized. If you look at the side bezels, it’s a curved non-existent display. The top & bottom bezels are also very slim. It looks like a very modern phone for sure.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Specifications
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G comes with a Dimensity 7030 processor. It’s basically a rebranded Dimensity 1050. I don’t understand the naming convention of MediaTek but this is 7030.
It has a base variant of 8GB RAM 128GB storage space & a top variant of 12GB RAM 256GB storage space. It comes with LPDDR4X RAM type & UFS 2.2 storage type. It has a 5000mAh battery & it has 68W fast charging.
In terms of performance, the AnTuTu score is around 5 lakhs which is excellent. You can play games on medium to high settings and you can say it is the best gaming phone under 25000.
We played PUBG and COD Mobile & they worked very well. Motorola always does something world’s first & India’s first. It has the world’s first 7030 processor. Even though it’s rebranded, that’s what it is. we love MyUX & there’s no question about it. It’s very optimized.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G OS UI
It’s very good in terms of battery performance & optimization. Motorola’s MyUX comes with customizations so it’s kind of the best of both worlds. It has gestures & all that is there. Motorola has announced 2 years of major updates & 3 years of security updates for Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G. Generally, it’s 1 plus 3 & now it’s 2 plus 3.
At the start. I said that Motorola is improving in everything. Features It has ReadyFor, which means you can seamlessly connect to a big screen. It has Family Spaces so you can create a space for your kids. It also has ThinkShield for security. It has all the features that Motorola’s flagship phones have.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Multimedia
Multimedia It’s going to be fun. It has Dolby Atmos-powered stereo speakers. It has an amazing curved display. Multimedia is absolutely great. This is probably one of the best experiences for multimedia at Rs 20K.
Although it has Widevine L1, it doesn’t support HDR on Netflix. It might come with an update but you can watch HDR on YouTube.
It also has a DC Dimming feature. If you look at the screen for a long time in low light, it won’t be a problem for your eyes. It doesn’t have a notification light like earlier phones. But it has an OS feature called Edge Lighting. So when you get a call, you’ll know immediately. Because it has a curved display, you’ll get a light on the side.
Curved displays look absolutely premium. In Rs 20-25K, there are curved & flat displays. What do you prefer? Let me know in the comments. I really want to know whether you prefer a flat display. Because it has advantages & curved displays have advantages too. What do you prefer?
Another thing that generally comes in flagship phones is IP68 certification. You get it in this Rs 20-22K phone. Again, in this price range, you get IP53 & IP52. But this has IP68 certification. So I’d say it’s dust & waterproof.
Even if it falls underwater for 1-1.5m, you shouldn’t have any problem. In the rainy season, it’s very nice. Or if you swim a lot & use your phone, it’s no problem.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Connectivity & Sensors
Let’s talk about connectivity. It has all the flagship connectivity options. It has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, 12 bands 5G support, 4G VoLTE, and WiFi calling support. It supports 4×4 MIMO. So connectivity options, are there.
If I talk about sensors, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and all the other sensors that you need in a smartphone. So all that is also there.
Other things like IP68 certification, SAR value being within limits, Widevine L1 support, you get edge lighting instead of notification light.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Camera
Let’s talk about the camera. Yes, it’s a very functional camera. Again, I’m noticing that the 2MP sensors are gradually moving away. And Motorola is taking the lead. It has a dual camera setup which is good. It has a 50MP OIS camera. Yes, it supports OIS. It has a 13MP ultrawide sensor, which is basically an autofocus sensor.
So you can shoot macro photos & it also provides depth information. So when you click a portrait, it’s beneficial and it has a 32MP selfie sensor. Again, it’s a 32MP sensor which is quite good. As I’ve said, Motorola is taking good steps ahead in the camera department and this one is no different.
Overall, the photos are good in normal conditions. Selfies are not that good as compared to the 32MP. Portraits have also improved a lot. So that also comes out good.
Even in videography, you can shoot 4K 30FPS on both the front & back. It’s not 60FPS but it’s 4K on both sides which is really good. There’s a portrait video mode feature too. So you can blur the background & shoot videos and there’s a low light mode too. So it automatically detects low light & clicks videos & photos accordingly.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo Camera Features, There’s a horizontal lock feature in videography. It locks the horizon. There’s a slow-motion mode. There’s HDR video recording support and there’s audio support too. It also supports audio zoom, which is good for videos.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo 5G Price
It has a 128GB base variant & a 12256GB version. Pricing- It has a 23999 base variant & the effective price is 20999. The 12256 variant is also available under 25999. For 21K, it offers you a lot. You get IP68, curved POLED display, Dolby Atmos speakers, performance is also right up there.
There’s a 5 Lakh AnTuTu score & there are 2-3 year security updates. It has all the features of the Moto Edge 40. You just don’t get a metal frame & there’s no wireless charging. All other features are available under 25K.
