OnePlus is probably making a big comeback, and we’re going to see the OnePlus Nord 3 specs and features, but before that, I’m going to tell you something interesting. OnePlus has made good phones. OnePlus 11 is probably the best and cheapest 8 Gen 2 phone out there for Rs 55-Rs 56K.
The OnePlus 11R, which you get for Rs 40K It’s great value for money! Nord’s branding was for phones under Rs 38K because they’re budget phones. But the Nord phones always had some shortcomings. Like the camera, the alert slider, etc. But the Nord 3 changes everything! It’s probably one of the best all-around phones out there.
But it’s now in the territory of the OnePlus 11R. It’s very close when it comes to pricing. Seriously, I don’t know what to say because this is a great offering! It’s a very good offer! But again, if it’s priced at Rs 35K to 38K, then why not buy the OnePlus 11R for Rs 4-5K? There are a lot of questions out there, but I’m happy because OnePlus is bringing out great phones!
OnePlus Nord 3 Box Content
I’m excited every time! Black, Blue, and White There’s documentation as well. There’s a sticker, a quick guide, stickers, and a Red Cable Club Card. It’s a soft, decent-quality case. It’s a decent-quality case, and I’ll tell you why! There’s an 80-watt charger and a familiar red USB Type A to Type C cable.
OnePlus Nord 3 Design
It’s a very thin phone with flat sides and an amazing in-hand feel. The design language looks very premium, and the back is glossy. There’s an LED on the side, and this is the color sensor. It’s a glass back, and it has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
It has a flat front. It’ll be an average hand as well. It looks like a tall, narrow phone. It feels very good in the hand.
OnePlus Nord 3 Ports and Buttons
Let’s look at the ports and buttons. There’s a speaker grill, a USB Type C port, a microphone, and a SIM card tray.
On the left, there’s a volume rocker. On the top, there’s an IR blaster, a speaker grill, and a noise-canceling microphone. So it’s very good. I love this alert slider. On the right, there’s an alert slider and a power on/off button. There’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the back and Dragon Trail protection at the front. If I talk about the weight, it’s 191.7g, so that’s nice.
OnePlus Nord 3 Display
It’s a 6.74-inch 1.5K display with a 120Hz fast refresh rate. It has an AMOLED display, HDR10+, and 1450 nits of brightness.
So the display is absolutely gorgeous and very nice. If I talk about the bezels, see for yourself. It’s thin at the bottom, top, and sides, and it’s uniform. It’s not like the chin is big. I think the screen-to-body ratio is 92–93%. It’s a very immersive display. Excellent! Big thumbs up! It has an adaptive refresh rate of 40 Hz to 120 Hz.
OnePlus Nord 3 Sepcifications
So that’s good. One more thing I noticed while setting up is that the haptic feedback is very nice. It’s priced at Rs 33,999, i.e., Rs 34K. The 8GB 128GB variant and the 16GB 256GB variant, which are more than Rs 4K, are priced at Rs 37K. In the introductory offer, it’ll cost you around Rs 1–2 lakh less.
So it’ll be priced at Rs 31–32,000. If we look at it, then the Dimensity 9000 is a good processor. There are some caveats, which I’ll talk about. But the Dimensity 9000 is a very good processor with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, LPDDR5X RAM type, UFS 3.1 storage type, a 5000mAh battery, and 80W of charging. So on the specs side, I’ll say it’s definitely a premium mid-range.
Yes, it’s priced above Rs. 30K, but they’re also offering good specs. Performance On paper, the AnTuTu score is around 9.5L, which is above 1M if you use the latest AnTuTu version 10. So in terms of performance, it’s absolutely great! So if you want to do gaming, you can do it on the highest settings, and it runs smoothly.
It’s very nice for gaming. But! That’s where I’m not very happy. If you want to play long sessions, then it does throttle a bit. There’s some throttling that happens during performances. It might change with updates. But right now, it does throttle a bit. And it gets a bit hot in thermals too.
So when we tested it for 1 hour, it went above 45–47 degrees. So yes, it does get warm. Although this is a 4nm processor, it should be more power-efficient. But we didn’t get the expected SOT of 5–5.5 hours. We should’ve had at least 6–6.5 hours. So there too, I think there’s some optimization issue. But probably, with updates, that might change. But the issues stop there. Everything else,
OnePlus Nord 3 Camera
Let me talk about the Oneplus Nord 3 cameras first. Because it doesn’t have an Omnivision sensor like the Ace 2V. Yes, it has a Sony IMX890 sensor, which you get in the 11R. Exactly the same primary sensor And yes, with OIS, or Optical Image Civilization, you get the primary sensor.
which, again, wasn’t there in the Ace 2V. So, like I said, they’ve gone all out. There’s a secondary 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a tertiary 2 MP macro sensor. And as I said, there’s another sensor for color. Talking about the selfie sensor, there’s a 16 MP selfie sensor in the center punch hole.
Yes, because of that Sony IMX sensor, low-light performance was definitely quite good. Talking about the video graphics, you get 4K 60FPS in Rare. And with OIS, you get stabilized footage too. But it’s 1080p at 30 fps.
Talking about the features, you get all the standard features like 240 FPS, Slow Motion Mode, Pro Mode, etc.
OnePlus Nord 3 OS
But I told you about an OS. When we were looking at Realme 11 Pro+, the Intelligent Search Services were on by default. You have to go into deep settings to find it. So we’ll see if it’s on by default. Let’s go to Additional Settings, then System Services. It’s on by default, just like it was in Realme 11 Pro+.
OS Features: You get virtual RAM up to 12GB. Yes, so 12GB plus 8GB is 20GB. If you take 16GB, then it’s 12GB plus 16 GB, which is 28 GB. Including virtual RAM, by the way. Features are no problem. This is the first phone to run OxygenOS 13.1. This is the first Nord phone with 3 years of major updates and 4 years of security updates.
OnePlus Nord 3 Multimedia
You get stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos support, and a beautiful display. For multimedia, gaming, Netflix, etc., you can stream, and it’ll be fun. Even Netflix has HDR10+. So you can do HDR viewing. So a big thumbs up for multimedia.
OnePlus Nord 3 Sensors
You get all the sensors. You get an IR Blaster, Face Unlock, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. That also works very well. It also has an NFC, so all the sensors are there.
OnePlus Nord 3 Connectivity
You get 9 bands: 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi Calling, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. You have everything. IP54 Certification. So it’s dust- and water-resistant, and for small things, the SAR value is within limits. There’s no notification light. There’s Widevine L1 support.
Everything is there. I mean, I’ll say this is definitely a premium mid-range. And finally, what do I think about the OnePlus Nord 3? It’s very close to the 11R’s territory.
It offers everything. Definitely, I can say this is one of the best all-round Nord phones. Yes, but the price has gone above Rs 30,000. This is the first Nord, about Rs 30K. Except for the intelligent services that I showed you, Other than that, battery optimization and throttling Other than that, I think this is a great phone.
Even with the throttling, its performance for daily use is fantastic. I wanted to tell you that we noticed the throttling; that’s why I told you. But for a normal user, you won’t be able to see the throttling. You’ll only be able to see it when you play heavy games. So yes, this is a very good offering from OnePlus.
