The Google Pixel 7a has finally launched in India! We will compare it with the Pixel 7a, 6a & Pixel 7. Especially about the camera, there are some fascinating findings.
Its price is Rs 44K. There might be better times to buy it. The price will be Rs 5-10K low when you buy in offers or during festivals. You’ll get it for Rs 35-37K. And if you get it for Rs 35-37K, this will be a fantastic phone.
Pixel 7a Box Contents
The box has a USB Type C to Type C charging cable. There’s a USB Type A to Type C adapter too! There’s a SIM card tool & a small Google documentation. That’s about it. There’s nothing else.
Pixel 7a Design
It has a plastic back & the feel is the same. There’s not any difference. You won’t know if the phone turns off later. The camera band has come up a little & it’s greyish silver. And last time, it was completely black. That’s the only thing. The rest is similar. It’s compact & a good mid-range compact phone.
Pixel 7a Ports & Buttons
The ports & buttons are at the bottom. There’s a speaker grill & a microphone. There’s no small hole in the microphone. It’s a grill & a USB Type C port. On the right, there’s a volume rocker & an on-off power button. The frame is metal, which is not generally seen in mid-range phones.
There’s a noise-canceling microphone on the top & a SIM card tray on the left. The sim card tray doesn’t have a dual sim but supports it. You can use an eSIM & a single physical SIM card. There’s no 3.5mm jack & the weight is 193.4g.
There’s plastic at the back, which looks like glass. There’s a fingerprint magnet & all the smudges come off. There’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection at the front.
Google Pixel 7a Display
It has a 6.1” OLED collection. It’s a 90Hz screen. Its brightness is decent but should be around 600-700 nits. The bezels are slightly above average. The chin is somewhat dated & the bezels are precisely the same as the 6A. They’re not small. I thought they’d be after a year. It’s a square design.
Google Pixel 7a Specifications
It’s a 2nd generation Tensor G2. It’s built on Samsung’s 5nm chipset. It has one variant with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, UFS 3.1, and LPDDR5 RAM type. It has a 4385mAh battery with 18W charging & a Titan M2 chipset for security. It’s a physical chipset.
The 6A didn’t have wireless charging. Pixel phones have two highlights. 1- Cameras, 2- Clean & Vanilla Android experience.
Samsung gives significant updates for four years but offers three years. Android 13 & 14, 15 & 16 are out of the box. But you get five years of security updates. UI doesn’t have any bloatware. Sensors – It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock & everything works well.
Pixel 7a Connectivity
It has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and 5G bands & all are globally certified. It’s one of the phones with full bands. So, whether in India or abroad, you can always use 5G. It has dual 4G VoLTE and WiFi calling support.
Pixel 7a Multimedia
It has a 90Hz screen & the colors don’t make a difference. It looks smooth, but the colors are good due to OLED. The display is small, the Stereo speakers are loud & the multimedia experience is above average.
Color variants: It comes in 3 color variants, Snow, White & Charcoal. But the most unique color is the Blue color.
Google Pixel 7a Camera
The primary sensor is Sony’s 64MP. If I compare it with the 6A, it has a 12.5MP sensor. If I compare it with the Pixel 7, it has a 50MP sensor. In the 7, it’s a Samsung sensor. And this has a Sony IMX787 sensor. And the other one is the 13MP Ultra Wide.
If I talk about the selfie, then the 6A had 8MP. And now it has a 13MP selfie sensor. Regarding camera & picture quality, it’s a big jump from the 6A. I was telling you an exciting thing if I compare it with the 7A. If you click photos in normal conditions, we’ve checked them side by side.
And the 7A clicks better pictures. Yes, it has a better low-light performance & the 7A is better regarding videography. But this one, the camera, is very close to the 7A. Even the secondary sensor clicks very nice ultra-wide pictures. It has 120 degrees FOV so that you can click wide images & landscapes.
So you can click them. If I talk about the videography, it’s a big jump compared to the 6A. You can connect 4K 30FPS videos in the front & 4K 60FPS videos in the back. And in terms of app features, many new features have come in the last year.
You can click the magic eraser if someone is standing behind you & taking a photo. You can unblur the image if you want some sharpness. It also has 8X super zoom, so I won’t call it lossless. But the photo that’s lost after zooming reduces a bit. So it has 8X super zoom. And there’s a feature called actual tone, so if you don’t want a lot of punch, & you want neutral colors, then you can use that.

Google Pixel 7a Features
Let’s talk about the small features. It’s not tiny. It has IP67 certification. So that’s good. I’ve already told you about wireless charging. There’s no notification light, no FM radio. So this is the Pixel 7a for Rs 44K.
If I compare it with the Pixel 6a, it’s a good jump. If I compare it with the Pixel 7, there’s not much difference between the 2.
You get more performance than this. The version of this phone is around 7-7.5L, which is slightly lower than the 870, which is 1-2 years old. And you get phones under Rs 30K for the 870. So it’s not performance, it’s an all-round phone. You have other options for implementation. But if you want a Google phone or a Pixel, the Pixel 7a is a good start.
